Cherryville, North Carolina

July 21, 2024

Asher was in St. Louis for his annual summer visit. The plan was for him to travel with us back to Cherryville and we would spend a week there before heading back home.
We left Saturday morning and spent the night in Del Monaco Winery & Vineyard's parking lot. Arriving too late for dinner at the winery, we ended up eating at a Drake's restaurant in nearby Cookville, Tennessee.

On Sunday, we stopped in Knoxvill, Tennesee for brunch at the Frothy Monkey, before arriving in Cherryville in the afternoon. (The Frothy Monkey is still in business, but the Knoxville location has closed).
Throughout the week, Sandy helped Diane repot plants, hang pictures, and work in the garden, while I worked remotely at my job.
In the evenings, I was able to spend time with family and enjoy a little bit of Cherryville.

Diane mentioned Asher didn't have a school picture for the year, so we did an impromptu photo shoot.

In regards to working remotely from the trailer, everything seemed to be going well at first. Then my hotspot from AT&T started slowing down and became spotty. Unfortunately, the house internet wasn't reaching out to where the trailer was parked so, I ended up working in a small room inside the house all week. And while that allowed me to not take any vacation time, I was disappointed that working from the trailer didn't work out as well as I had hoped.
We left Saturday afternoon and stopped at the Lake Lure Flower Bridge before heading to Del Monaco Winery's parking lot for the night.

The Lake Lure sits just below Chimney Rock, a popular tourist destination.

We arrived home safely on Sunday afternoon. Overall, it was a fun trip and a great way to get away from home for a week.
